As expected, Cadillac has taken to the Nürburgring to put its next-generation CTS-V to the test.

Earlier, AutoGuide.com‘s spy photographers caught the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V testing near the Nürburgring and now we have photos of the sedan in action, with smoking tires and glowing brake rotors. By the looks of the spy photos, the next-generation CTS-V will borrow plenty of cues from the Corvette, sporting large brake calipers, two-piece rotors, high-performance wheels, wide rear tires and a quad-tip exhaust setup.

While early speculation hinted that the Cadillac CTS-V would be powered by a supercharged V8 from the Corvette Z06, it is now more likely that the American automaker will opt for a twin-turbo V8 setup to compete with the BMW M3s of the world. The use of a twin-turbo engine will also help differentiate the CTS-V from the Corvette, making it more than just a Cadillac sedan with a Corvette powertrain.

The real question is: how much faster is this new car around the Nurburgring than the old one?
